Inventory for auto service shops

Parts on hand.
Bays moving.
Repairs on time.

A stalled bay is the most expensive shelf audit there is. OnHandly shows what is actually in the parts room, reserves parts against work orders, and makes the reorder decision before the vehicle arrives.

Why teams switch

The problems this removes.

01

The shelf makes promises it can't keep

The system says three brake kits; one of them is already promised to tomorrow's work order. OnHandly counts reservations against availability, so spoken-for parts stop looking free.

02

Parts leave without a record

A part pulled for a job is usage, not a mystery. Recording it takes one scan at the shelf and lands in the ledger with a name and a time.

03

Reordering happens at the worst moment

Minimums and targets per item turn “we're out” into a supplier-grouped draft order with suggested quantities and estimated cost—reviewed on the web, not shouted across the shop.

A working example — Harbor Auto Service

A brake job booked for tomorrow: work order RO-1847.

01

Reserve against the RO

The front brake kit is reserved for RO-1847 the moment the job is booked. Availability treats it as spoken for.

02

Allocate to the bay

The kit is allocated to Bay 3, so the morning setup already knows where it goes.

03

Hand over, and it becomes usage

At install time, handover converts the reservation into a recorded movement against the job—no separate bookkeeping step.

04

The shelf math stays honest

With the kit consumed and one set left below minimum, the reorder list already shows the replacement order under WorldPac.

Can I reserve parts for a work order?+

Yes, on Team and Pro. Reserved stock is held against availability, and the handover step records the final movement against the job when the part is installed.

Does reserved stock affect reordering?+

Yes. Shortage math subtracts reservations, so a part that is physically on the shelf but promised to a job still triggers the reorder before you sell it twice.

Do the barcodes on aftermarket boxes work?+

Yes. Attach the UPC on the box to the item once, and every phone in the workspace recognizes it at receiving, usage, and counts.
